Currently, I have five songs started. Nothing completed. Nothing even close. I’ve got some good ideas, but haven’t yet hit upon that inspiration spark that sets off the flurry of songwriting.
Two are potential Boggards songs (maybe Rogues’ Reefe songs), two are Celtic Squall songs and one is either a Squall song or an MWOW song.

Only three weekends left.
This is my fifteenth consecutive season of Faire. Starting to suffer some burnout. But it’s not just the fifteen years — the Boggards have become (and have been so for a few years) a year-round endeavor, and that’s eating up an enormous amount of time.

Every night for the past two weeks or so, I’ve made a point of writing song lyrics. This was my routine:
I sit down with a pen and an empty writing tablet and come up with random song ideas.
Then I start writing lyrics: verses, choruses, etc.

I only write two or three great songs a year. The rest of the time, I write junk — horrible lyrics, horrible concepts, bad melodies. Seems like a waste of time, but it’s all part of a process. Here’s how I approach my songwriting:
